COASTAL BIRTHDAY RETREAT!
Under a guise of a late afternoon hike, my sweetie pie pal navigated us west towards the coastal town of Lincoln City. Ridding shotgun I played DJ with the Nano and offered up some rear wagging delights to travel to. Roughly five miles out from the coast Susan veered right and changed coarse. pulling into a parking lot we unloaded, I was directed to NOT look in the back of the car....Birthday secrets I presumed. Our trail sign announced the glory of the Cascade Head Trail, and after an our of exploration, we got underway. The trail, once found is a true delight. cutting back and forth, over bridges and through some old growth and finaly opening up atop of a grassy hill over looking the magistic Pasific Ocean!
Continuing the Celtic pic-nics with view
Through it all Susan kept up the mystery of what the weekend would entail. Always hinting of having to drive home after a dinner to finish home work....sneaky sneaky and so, after returning to the car we drove Southward down highway 101 to partake of my (pre)free Birthday beer at the Rouge Brewery. As we drove by a fancy hotel Susan nonchalantly suggested we stop off later and have a night cap in the lounge before heading home..."I hear that it has a great view" is what she said. Never one to argue a view or cocktail, I pressed my foot down on the gas peddle and we arrive shortly at the Brewery on the bay......Oh how I love that Rouge brew!
In the elevator ride to the lobby, Susan waved the key card to our room and with a magical smile announced: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! A two night stay at the Inn at Spanish Head....DELUXE!
Drift Creek Falls: 1.5 short miles on an over populated trail, dodging dogs, kids and mall walkers. despite the pedestrian nature of the hike, the beauties of the lush forest that gave way to a huge suspension bridge over water fall was a fine experience. The drive was also superb...winding roads, sun roof down, tape deck pumping INXS the Kick and smiles, smiles and smiles.
The Stunning Suzie Ferguson gazing into the sun set while chillin' at Fathoms lounge on the tenth floor over looking the sea. Martini drinks, missed appetizers and seagull silliness.
Our room is the one bottom right
